Amy Carmichael served in her mission field in India for 55 years without furlough. During her time there she published over 35 books, including her most well-known book “A Chance to Die”. Amy Carmichael’s ministry was one of service, especially to the poorer and socially outcast members of society. While she was in India she founded a mission called Dohnavur. Through this mission she dedicated her life to rescuing and rehabilitating children who were used as sex slaves in the Hindu temples. While we would not agree with all that Amy taught, her compassion is a great example for us to follow.
Does it not stir up our hearts, to go forth and help them, does it not make us long to leave our luxury, our exceeding abundant light, and go to them that sit in darkness?
